This study was performed to investigate the effect of Joaya Kwang Sa Hwan in oriental medicine on climacteric disturbance. The experimental model of menopause was induced by bilateral ovatiectomy in Rats. These were administrated orally with liquid extract Joayag Kwang Sa Hwan(JKSH).
The level of serum LH, serum FSH, serum total estrogen, serum progesterone, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and the number of WBC. DBC, platelet were measured. The results were obtained as follows ;
1. Serum LH level was decreased significantly in only high concentration of JKSH as compared with the control group.
2, Serum FSH level was decreased significantly in all treated group of JKSH as compared with the control group.
3. Serum total estrogen level was increased significantly in all treated group of JKSH as compared with the control group.
4. Serum progesterone level was increased significantly in all treated group of JKSH as compared with the control group.
5. Serum total cholesterol level was increased significantly in only high concentration of JKSH as compared with the control group.
6 Serum triglyceride level was increased significantly in only high concentration of JKSH as compared with the control group.
7. The number of WBC was decreased insignificantly in all treated group of JKSH as compared with the control group.
8. The number of RBC was increased insignificantly in only low concentration of JKSH as compared with the control group.
9. The number of platelet was increased significantly in only high concentration of JKSH as compared with the control group.
From above results, it was thought that JKSH could be applied effectively to the infertility as a medicine for external use.
